You can cut, color, straight iron, and curl extensions made of human hair, but not the synthetic fibers. If you love having different styles for different days here's your cheapest way out and the hair lasts a long time...
Go to Sally's Beauty Supply and see if you can find human hair in a bag. If you can find blonde in the texture of hair that you want (curly, straight, wavy) then you are on your way to having awesome hair.
The longer the hair the better. You can buy human hair in any color, but blonde is the easiest to dye. If you can't find this in Sally's then check ebay. If you don't find a bag of hair you can use a wig or a fall, but a bag of hair or hair already on a weft is perfect.
If you get darker human hair you should either take it to a professional to dye it or if you know how to strip the color out or bleach the hair and then dye it the color you'd like it to be, you can do it yourself if you know what you're doing and have the patience.
For bright cool non traditional colors use Manic Panic on blonde dry hair.
Ebay frequently has great deals on human hair wigs, extensions and falls and I'm going to tell you how to get any look you want the cheapest way....
The fancy clip in extensions that are bought in a package are extremely expensive so what I do is buy the hair on ebay or Sally's and take it to a wig shop. You can find the hair between $20-$100 this way and you can have different looks for a long time if you follow these steps...
If the hair you buy is loose (not made into a wig and in a bag) a wig shop can glue it on something called a weft and you can then have a whole bunch of hair to cut (tell them you want to make these into extensions), place each piece of hair on a weft on clips (I buy little clips at Wal Mart and fasten the extensions under my real hair and no one can tell) and when you want a new look you can dye the hair and style it whatever way you choose.
With this method, you can have many different shades of hair to create highlights or a punk look one day and sophisticated celebrity hair the next. You can also cut the hair to different lengths once the hair is on a weft so if you want to make certain pieces longer, you can. This gives you flexibility instead of being ties to one style with a wig, fall or typical extensions.
The best part is that these are removable and safe for your hair. No gluing or damage to your own hair and the hair lasts. You can shampoo it like your own. Good luck!
