I am really interested in getting hair extensions but I don't want my hair ruined, what could happen? Advice?

-doesn't burn (unless you put heat to it)

-It's usually shiny

-looks real

-no one knows you have extensions on

-doesn't get affected by humidity

-doesn't get affected by frizziness

cons

-it smells

-if not done properly, your hair can start thinning

-can get messy easily

-gets tangled easily

-hard to manage

-after time, people start to notice the extensions from your real hair

-if not done properly, hair can result in dryness and damaging.

-hurts your scalp

I say to go to a salon that specializes in African American Hair. They have been doing this for years. You can have your hair braided and then have the extension sewn onto the braid. In this way there is no glue to ruin your hair and your hair is protected in the braid. If your hair is fine this technique may not last as long w/ your hair. But they can braid your hair and then sew the braid and then sew the hair onto the braid. If you happen to be in AZ know plenty of places to refer you to.

If I were you I wouldn't do it. I have had them. If it is not done right you can really damage your hair. It can break and get brittle. Plus you are using glue in your hair and that isn't good either. They also tend to get frizzy and thick. They also tend to have an odor after awhile. I have been there and I know got my hair back to normal after 6 months and I still have more to go.
